Promoting Myself

This 5 week summer course was my first time ever using the website WordPress. I feel like I did a decent job using the website although their are several improvements I could make. But the website still looked neat and covered lots of information.

I feel like I could have better promoted my content by posting comments on other Texas reptile breeders social media pages and let them know I was looking for ways to get other people involved in the community and how my newly created website does that. I also could have gone to nearby reptile shows and told the people that I was there to get more people involved in the community.

My best experience of this semester long project was going through my camera roll and finding photos from 5-10 years ago and putting them to good use. There are many times where I had a photo opportunity but I chose not to take it because I didn’t think I would be able to put it to good use. But after doing this project it gave me second thoughts about passing up photo opportunities because I may put them good to use years down the road.

The ways my experience with my WordPress could affect me in the future is that I will be more photogenic in the future, and I will be more familiar with creating my own website so I won’t spend a lot of time teaching myself how to create a website and worry so much about if it looks good or not instead of worrying about what I am actually going to put on the website.

I plan to continue creating my own websites if I create my own businesses or fundraisers in the future because it is the best source of getting people involved, making myself known to other people, and keeping people updated. I really enjoyed making my own website because this day in age it should make anyone feel good about putting their personal interests to good use.

My most popular week was June 14-20. I had 26 views and 11 visitors that week. My most popular post was the Texas Reptile Community post with 4 views. I think it was the most popular because it was well themed, and it established what kind of website viewers can expect mine to be. I was a little surprised the views and likes decreased as time went on because I thought it would become more popular the more the people saw it. Sadly I don’t have any social media posts to brag about because known of them got likes or retweets. But at least more people became aware of my website.
